Authorised Prescriber
An accredited medical officer engaged in clinical practice within Adventist HealthCare Limited will only prescribe unapproved therapeutic goods under section 19(5) of the Therapeutic Goods Act to patients under their care, after receiving endorsement as an Authorised Prescriber, from the Ethics Committee. The Committee will provide a letter of endorsement as part of the practitioner’s application to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
An Adventist HealthCare Limited pharmacy will only dispense unapproved therapeutic goods to an accredited medical officer engaged in clinical practice within Adventist HealthCare Limited who has received endorsement as an Authorised Prescriber from the Ethics Committee and the TGA.
Procedure
To apply for AHCL HREC review of an Application for an Authorised Prescriber:
- Complete the Application for an Authorised Prescriber
- Complete the Consent Form for an Authorised Prescriber
- Attach a letter signed by 3 colleagues within the same specialty at AHCL highlighting their support of the Application.
If this poses any issues, please contact the Research Office to discuss. - Attach supporting documentation ie. signed CV, leaflets, consent form, and submit to the Research Office at research@sah.org.au

Please note the AHCL HREC meeting dates. Submissions must be received by the Research Office by the submission closing date in order to be tabled at the HREC meeting.
