Patient Information
If you’re coming to San Heart for cardiovascular treatment, it’s normal to feel a little apprehensive – after all, these can be significant life events. However, rest assured that our team is here to support you and make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. The first step is to be prepared, so we’ve pulled together all the information you should need right here.
Preparing for your visit
The booklet below explains what you need to know and do before coming in for different types of surgery. If you still have any unanswered questions please get in touch.
Pre-admission paperwork
Before you come to San Heart, you’ll need to complete some forms which gives us all the information we’ll need throughout your stay. Please do this online as soon as possible after your doctor confirms your admission, and if you have issues doing this online just get in touch.
Your admission & stay
In most cases, your doctor will have explained what you’ll need to do to prepare for your procedure, and you also should have received a Pre-admission Booklet. Please read this carefully, as it contains everything you need to know about your stay, as well as information on our location, parking, public transport options and more. We have a variety of retail services on-site, including several places to eat, a pharmacy, gift shop, book shop, florist and hairdresser.
Discharge
When your doctor decides you’re ready to return home, you will be officially discharged from San Heart and given a discharge summary (one will also be sent to your GP), any x-rays and any medications you may need. If someone is collecting you by car, we recommend they bring a cushion to tuck under your seatbelt for comfort – and if you have a long drive, please take a break every 1-2 hours to stretch your legs. In some cases, you’ll be referred on to our rehabilitation team who run programs to help you get back on your feet.
