Clinical Education Centre
The Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical Education Centre opened in 2013, a collaborative project made possible by Health Workforce Australia (HWA), the NSW State Government, Adventist HealthCare, The University of Sydney, Avondale University and private philanthropy. From 2013 to 2020 the centre was home to the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School (SAHCS) of The University of Sydney - established in 2011 as the first fully-fledged private hospital clinical school in NSW.
The Centre currently hosts students from both the Faculty of Nursing and Health of Avondale University, one of the oldest continuing nursing schools in Australia, and post-graduate medical students from the Australian National University (ANU).
The Clinical Education Centre is a purpose-built 3 level 3,500sqm facility which includes:
- The 380 seat Charles Warman Auditoria
- The Charles Warman Foyer
- A Simulation Centre
- The Beverley Ellen Peters Clinical Skills Laboratories
- A Library
- A student common room
- Administration areas
- Tutorial rooms
- Problem-based learning rooms
- Lecture rooms
The centre was established to help address national workforce shortages and provide critically needed and unique side by side training of doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
Library
San staff, doctors and volunteers, Avondale University nursing students, Clinical School staff and students can access the Sydney Campus of the Avondale University Library. The professional health collection includes nursing, bioethics, medicine, allied health, counselling and religion resources, among other subjects.
The Library is located on the entrance level of the Clinical Education Centre.
