When the San Emergency Care Department opened in May 1996 it was the first private Emergency Care facility on Sydney’s North Shore. Today we are the largest and busiest private emergency facility in NSW treating approximately 20,000 patients annually. Our team of dedicated doctors, led by emergency specialists and registered nurses are committed to providing a safe environment and high-quality care for our community members.
Open 24 hours / 7 days with modern facilities and the backing of a large fully equipped acute care hospital with extensive treatment, diagnostic and support services, the unit is well placed to meet your needs. Our expert team of doctors and nurses assess, treat and care for patients with a wide range of emergency conditions and injuries.
Approximately 15% of our patients are children, and we work closely with the paediatricians and paediatric surgeons accredited to the hospital.
Emergency Care is well supported by San Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (SRNM) who provide a 24/7 service, 365 days a year. This fast-track imaging service is for patients who require x-ray, CT, ultrasound or emergency interventional procedures. SRNM also offer MRI services 7 days a week. This ensures timely access based on urgency.
