Interventional Radiology
Interventional Radiology is a specialised division of the San Radiology & Nuclear Medicine Department responsible for a wide range of procedures performed under image guidance. Image guidance enables a much higher degree of safety and a more minimally invasive approach than traditional surgery. Interventional procedures include Uterine Fibroid Embolisation, Portacath insertion, Ultrasound guided drainages and biopsies. These procedures are performed by a highly trained team which includes an Interventional Radiologist, nurses and radiographers.
The San Interventional Suite is state of the art with the new Philips Azurion Flexarm System. This system offers un-paralleled flexibility and image quality, giving the best possible outcome for our patients with the lowest radiation dose possible.
The doctors who provide these services at the San are part of Sydney Interventional Radiology, located in San Clinic.
