Vision & Mission
Your whole health is our whole purpose
At the San, we don’t just focus on physical health – we see wellbeing in multiple dimensions, and care for people on every level. These principles date back more than 150 years and began with the founders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Our Vision
To be a thriving, faith-based provider of world class care – inspiring hope and wellbeing.
Our Mission
Christianity in action: caring for the body, mind and spirit of our patients, colleagues, community and ourselves.
Our Values
Excellence, Integrity, Dignity & Continuity.
Our beliefs in action
For us, Christianity is expressed in the way we care for our patients, our colleagues, the wider community and ourselves. It means caring for the body, mind and spirit – inspired by the life and healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
What is whole-person health?
Essentially, it’s our way of expressing ‘wholistic’ or ‘complete’ health, encompassing mind, body and spirit – and at the San, this is what we strive for in everything we do.
People are not purely physical, we are emotional and spiritual beings too, and at Sydney Adventist Hospital we take an equally multi-dimensional approach to health. We understand that you are more than the mechanics of your body. From health education to balanced nutrition and pastoral care, the San covers every aspect of wellbeing. For us, it’s not just about treating symptoms, it’s also about empowering people to live well.
The San’s ethos of whole-person health is a faith-based approach that seeks to restore, maintain and promote optimal wellbeing in body, mind and spirit. To find out more download the brochure below.
Better together
The San is proud to forge progressive partnerships that assist us in delivering whole person health to the communities we serve. We partner with like-minded academic institutions (Australian National University & Avondale University), as well as ELIA Wellness, a charity operated by Adventist HealthCare that is dedicated to empower whole-person health, healing and hope. ELIA’s initiatives include education resources, health and fitness programs, and evidence-based lifestyle medicine health plans.
The San today
Today the San is NSW’s largest private hospital, providing a comprehensive range of acute surgical, medical and obstetric care with state-of-the-art technology and facilities.
