Profile
Dr Emma Clout is a consultant Breast and General Surgeon with training in oncoplastic breast conservation surgery and reconstruction with a BreastSurgANZ breast oncology fellowship. She also specialises in laparoscopic surgery including cholecystectomy and ventral and incisional hernias and is GESA accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Clout achieved her Bachelor of Pharmacy (1995) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland (2001), before travelling to the United Kingdom post her internship for early surgical training. She was then selected to advanced surgical training in General Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons based in Sydney. (2009-2015)
With a longstanding interest in breast oncology and oncoplastic surgery, Dr Clout completed extra training in breast surgical oncology and oncoplastic techniques through a BreastSurgANZ fellowship (2016-2017) and is a full current member. Dr Clout has completed a Masters of Surgery in Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery and a Graduate Certificate in Breast Surgery (Benign, Malignant and Reconstructive) via the University of Sydney. She works with BreastScreen Australia and participates in Breast multidisciplinary meetings and the BreastSurgANZ breast audit.
Oncoplastic surgery involves techniques which safely treat breast cancers while minimising breast distortions with large lumpectomies to facilitate aesthetically pleasing outcomes. Dr Clout is passionate about ensuring all patients needing breast cancer treatment have all surgical treatment options including reconstruction and adjuvant treatments available and discussed with them.
Dr Clout also performs a range of general surgical procedures including:
