Dr La Hei is a General Paediatric Surgeon who holds appointments at Sydney Adventist Hospital, The Childrens Hospital at Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Dr La Hei graduated in Medicine from Sydney University and was a surgical resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Surgical Registrar at Royal North Shore Hospital. He went on to complete his Paediatric Surgical Training at The Childrens Hospital at Westmead. Dr La Hei went on to do further training in the field of Paediatric Laproscopic Surgery at both Sophia Childrens Hospital at Rotterdam (2000) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London (2001). Dr La Hei has a broad General Paediatric Surgical Practice including Day Stay surgical procedures as well as a special interest in laproscopic surgery, thoracic surgery and burns. He is a keen teacher, a past supervisor of Surgical Training at The Childrens Hospital at Westmead, and regularly gives lectures at both the undergraduate and post graduate level.

Research

Dr Erik La Hei is currently undertaking a prospective study looking at the results of chest wall reconstruction in children. Patients being followed are those who require operations for pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, congenital chest wall defects, and chest wall resections for tumours.
