Profile
Dr Gary Sykes is a graduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B, B.S.) from Sydney University. He commenced his initial postgraduate training at Concord Hospital and then at the Children's Hospital. His initial training in obstetrics and gynaecology was at the Women's Hospital, Sydney. Dr Sykes then completed his obstetrics and gynaecology training overseas. He was Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St David's Hospital, Cardiff and the University Hospital of Wales, United Kingdom. He was then Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, England and Clinical Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Oxford, England. Dr Sykes returned to Australia and began private practice as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the United Kingdom. He has specific interest in providing excellence in personalised quality pregnancy care, in high risk pregnancy management and in the prevention of miscarriage. He has successfully embraced modern technology to enhance his obstetric practice and to communicate with and provide valuable pregnancy information for his patients. Dr Sykes is married to Robyn and has three married children and eight grandchildren.
Research
Dr Sykes has particular interest in improvement in quality of obstetric care and recurrent miscarriage prevention.
