Profile
After 30 years as a specialist ENT Surgeon Dr Gillian Dunlop now concentrates on rhinoplasty, otoplasty and paediatric ENT surgery.
In 2023 she delivered the keynote address to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons awarded her the Graham Coupland medal in 2018 for her pursuit of excellence.
Dr Dunlop graduated MB BS (Hons.) from the University of Sydney in 1988 having already obtained BSc (Med) in 1985 for her research into the mechanism of thalidomide deformities. She undertook Resident training at Royal North Shore Hospital and Westmead Hospital. Because surgery was a difficult pathway for women her initial postgraduate training was in Emergency Medicine. In 1992 she transferred to ENT/Head and Neck Surgery as the 2nd female on the NSW training scheme. She was the Senior ENT Registrar in 1996 at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and completed Rhinology and Facial Plastics Fellowship at London National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital 1997.
Dr Dunlop began private solo ENT practice in late 1997. Her main interests have always been paediatrics ENT and facial plastic surgery. She was elected Treasurer of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (1999-2005) and is now an Executive Secretary (2020 to present).
