Dr Desai graduated MB BS from Gujarat University, India in 1979. He obtained M Ch in Cardiothoracic Surgery from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1987. He has undertaken clinical fellowship at the Jewish Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, Missouri for two years in 1993. He obtained fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2003. He has been VMO in Cardiothoracic Surgery in Westmead Hospital since 2010. He is also practicing at Sydney Adventist Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital. He has extensive experience in all aspects of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery with a particular interest in Aortic Surgery. Dr Desai is involved in outreach programmes providing cardiac surgical services to the underprivileged in India.
