Profile
James Sullivan has been a Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon at the San since 1989. He is a graduate of Sydney University and completed advanced training in Orthopaedics on the Sydney training programme. He then undertook a Fellowship in Joint Replacement with Harvard University in Boston. He was an Honorary Medical Officer at Westmead and Hornsby Hospitals for 13 years and is now in private practice at the San Clinic and Parramatta. His is a specialist hip and knee surgeon with particular interests in joint replacement, reconstruction and arthroscopy. Dr Sullivan is a past President of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society and is active in education in joint replacement in Asia. He is also a past Chairman of the NSW Board of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
Research
Dr Sullivan is currently supervising a TGA regulated hip arthroplasty trial at the San. A new minimally invasive hip stem is being evaluated which offers the benefit of bone and soft tissue preservation in total hip replacement.
