Dr Halpern has specific interests in Clinical Neurology, Neurophysiology, and Neuroendocrinology. He has had extensive training and subsequent experience in Clinical Neurology starting at Westmead Hospital with Professor Morris and continuing in the specialised units at the Royal Free Hospital in London with Professor Thomas. He has then held a number of appointments at teaching, district and private hospitals. This has involved the provision of a range of Clinical Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiological services encompassing inpatient care, clinical, consultation services and on-call. He has taught under-graduate and post-graduate students. Dr Halpern has a busy Clinical Neurology and Neurophysiology practice in the Northern Sydney Health Area.
Research
Dr Halpern has been awarded a PhD for his work on the effects of Thyroid Hormone Deficiency on brain development.
