Dr Mercedes Espada Vaquero is a highly skilled and compassionate Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist who is dedicated to providing quality care to her patients.
Mercedes is passionate about endometriosis diagnosis and management, with expertise in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and sonology. She completed two international fellowships focused in endometriosis imaging and complex endometriosis surgery and subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG).
Mercedes holds a PhD with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) and has been the recipient of awards and scholarships in Spain, Italy, Australia and USA.
She completed a Visiting Fellowship in Gynaecology at the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery and Endometriosis, Negrar, Verona, Italy and a Visiting Fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology at the Department of Gynaecology, Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, Mayo Clinic Arizona, USA.
Mercedes is also a published author and a reviewer with several peer-reviewed international journals to her credit. Her cumulative work led to her recognition by the Australian Government under the Global Talent Program, which offers a permanent visa for exceptionally talented and prominent individuals who can raise Australia's standing in their field. Subsequent to this, she was awarded the title of Clinical Senior Lecturer at Nepean Clinical School, Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.
Besides her professional accomplishments, Mercedes is fluent in both Spanish and English, which allows her to better serve a diverse group of patients. She is committed to delivering the best possible care to all her patients and is always striving to improve her expertise.

Research

Mercedes does research in Gynaecology and has a particular interest in laparoscopic and robotic surgery and female pelvic ultrasound.
