Profile
Dr Palavra is a Consultant Neurologist, Visiting Medical Officer at the Sydney Adventist Hospital and a Visiting Medical Officer at North Shore Private Hospital. She completed her medical qualifications at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 2013 with distinction. She then completed clinical and research electives in Movement Disorders at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London and Mount Sinai School Of Medicine, New York.
Dr Palavra is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists. She completed physician training followed by speciality training in Neurology at Royal North Shore Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital.
In addition to general Neurology, Dr Palavra has sub-specialty interests in Movement Disorders, particularly Parkinson's Disease and Deep Brain Stimulation. She completed a fellowship in Movement Disorders and Neurogenetics, as the recipient of the Nick Blair Fellowship in 2021. Her fellowship encompassed training in medical and surgical therapies for Movement Disorders, including device assisted therapies for the management of Parkinson's Disease. Dr Palavra also has a keen interest in headache and migraine, is a member of The Australia and New Zealand Headache Society, and member of the Migraine Education Committee.
Research
Dr Palavra has research interests in Parkinson's Disease, cognitive impairment and migraine. She has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers and continues her research in Parkinson's Disease as a research affiliate for the University of Sydney.
