Profile
Dr Philip Bergersen is a senior Urologist who practices on the North Shore of Sydney. He has a private practice based in Chatswood and Hornsby. His hospital appointments include Sydney Adventist, North Shore Private, The Mater, and Hornsby Kuring-gai Hospitals. Dr Bergersen graduated from Adelaide University in 1981 and then completed his residency in Sydney. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Urology) in 1990, and then undertook a post-graduate fellowship at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He subsequently returned to Sydney to commence private practice on the Sydney's north shore in 1992. He is head of the section of Urology at the San and Hornsby and is supervisor of Urology registrar training. He is on the Quality Control Review Committee at the San and participates in the Multi-disciplinary Cancer Meeting. He is a published Author and presenter at international meetings and continues his professional development by regular attendance at local and international meetings. As well as General Urology he has special interest in Uro-oncology, Robotic surgery, Laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, laser surgery, Brachytherapy, Stone disease and benign prostate disease.
Research
Research interests include Pelvic Anatomy and anatomical aspects of urinary continence. He has been involved with research at Sydney University into the molecular biology of muscle receptors in the bladder.
