Profile
Dr Krishnan is a Consultant Surgical Oncologist, Breast, Melanoma and General Surgeon with breast oncology fellowships at Breast Cancer Institute, Westmead Hospital and Breast and Endocrine Unit, Concord Hospital. She also specialises in Advanced non melanotic skin cancers, performs Laparoscopic surgery, and has obtained GE-SA certification for Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy. She graduated MBBS 1st Class in 1994, completed a Masters in Surgery (General) in 2005 and FRACS 2009, and undertook Fellowships in Breast Surgery during 2006-2009.
Dr Krishnan operates at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Delmar Private Hospital (Northern Beaches) and Calvary Bruce Private Hospital (Canberra). She is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at ANU, Anatomy demonstrator, lectures and conducts practicals for the ANU Medical School. She trains registrars, residents and interns at SERH, and is involved in medical student teaching at ANU, the San and SERH. She is a RACS Senior EMST Instructor. She was Co-Convenor for the 2021 Provincial Surgeons of Australia Annual Scientific Conference in Bega, NSW and is Co-President of the Provincial Surgeons Association of Australia. She was Co-Convenor for the ACT Annual Scientific Meeting 2022 in Canberra. Dr Krishnan is a Member of RACS Special Groups - Surgical Oncology and Women in Surgery; and has memberships with BreastSurgANZ, ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group, Australasian Society for Breast Disease, ACT & SE NSW Breast Cancer Treatment Group and ANZ Melanoma Trials Group. She is also a CHASM (Collaborating Hospitals' Audit of Surgical Mortality) First Line Assessor.
Dr Krishnan is also a Non Executive Director - Board So Brave Australia's Young Women's Breast Cancer Charity (www.sobrave.org.au). She is a Mentor for ASSA Australasian Student's Surgical Association (ASSA). She has partnerships with Healthcert Education and is an op Ed Writer for Oncology and Medical Republic; Staff Lead for 'The Link' and ANU program to connect global healthcare workers; and Founder of 'Note to Myself, What I wish I knew in my 20's', an empowering online program for women empowering women while raising funds for charity.
Dr Krishnan's areas of expertise include breast surgery, melanotic and advanced non melanotic skin cancer surgery, endoscopy, diagnostics and therapeutics, a wide range of general surgery and laparoscopic procedures, including for diseases of the gallbladder and abdominal wall herniae.
Research
Dr Krishnan is involved in Breast Cancer multi-disciplinary meetings at Sydney Adventist Hospital and Canberra Hospital, and the Advanced Melanoma and Skin Cancer multi-disciplinary meeting at the San. She is also part of an ongoing breast oncology audit for BreastSurg ANZ.
