Dr Simon Chan graduated from University of Sydney in 1999. He completed residency at Royal North Shore Hospital, and went on to train in the specialty of Rehabilitation Medicine. He attained Fellowship of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2005 with distinction. Dr Chan has visiting appointments at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Mt Wilga Private Hospital, Lady Davidson Private Hospital, and Macquarie University Hospital. He is also staff specialist in the Division of Rehabilitation and Aged Care, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. Dr Chan has particular interests in rehabilitation of the older person, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation. In conjunction with colleagues at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, he is developing novel techniques in ultrasound-guided interventions for spasticity and musculoskeletal conditions in the rehabilitation setting.

Research

Dr Chan is currently researching osteoporosis management in the rehabilitation setting, and developing draft guidelines for appropriate bladder management for the older person in an inpatient hospital setting.
