Profile
Dr Kuo is an Otolaryngology / Head & Neck Surgeon who specialises in children and adult ear, nose and throat disorders. He has subspecialty interest in head and neck cancers and microvascular free flap reconstruction. Dr Kuo has current appointments at the Sydney Adventist, Dalcross Adventist, Macquarie University, Gosford Public & Private, and Hurstville Private hospitals. He graduated from Auckland Grammar School and then studied medicine at University of Otago, New Zealand from 1994 - 1999. He undertook ENT training on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons program and obtained surgical fellowship, FRACS (OHNS) in 2009. Dr Kuo was awarded a two-year scholarship in one of the largest Head and Neck Centres in the world, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. He was trained by both head and neck cancer expert Professor Chun-Da Liao and world-renowned Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Professor Fu-Chan Wei. He was appointed by the international Fu-Chan Wei Club as the Australia Regional Advisory Board and National Representative. Dr Kuo performed the first facial microvascular reconstruction at the Central Coast and the first Professor Wei perforator type free flap at John Hunter hospital in 2012. Dr Kuo is a Conjoint Lecturer of the University of Newcastle, and is currently in private practice with rooms in Macquarie University Hospital, Hurstville and on the Central Coast.
Research
Dr Kuo has an interest in academic medicine and has published numerous medical research papers in addition to authorship in a Head and Neck textbook. He was involved in the basic science research in composite tissue allotransplantation for future redevelopment of facial transplantation at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan.
